Crime and death at sea is not happy topic for those of us looking for news and information about taking a cruise - but as we keep saying in the Prow's Edge Cruise Magazine - Safety at Sea pages - it's not about obsessing about the gory details: it's about being informed and learning that we can avoid the dangers and actually work together to make the cruise vacation the safe and secure option it ought to be.
And no one works more tirelessly with this in mind than Kendall Carver, President of the International Cruise Victims Association, who has today announced the success of years of activism in bringing about changes in legislation that are designed to change the law so that passengers are more safe at sea and have more rights in following up the unfortunate situation should they become victims of crime at sea.
Details of the latest developments can be found at the latest Prow's Edge Cruise Magazine news item "International Cruise Victims Association (ICV) brings about landmark changes for victims who die at sea".
A sobering thought for those of us who might still want to stick our heads in the sand and pretend that this is not a problem we need to be aware of can be found in the latest petition from the ICV that highlights in a very sobering way that this not a problem we can ignore.
